Webinar: Decision-making in our Uncertain World:Webinar

A suite of Deep South Challenge research has looked at approaches to support decision-making under uncertainty and its application to adaptation planning for climate change. Join Anita Wreford, Tom Logan, Andrew Allison and Graeme Guthrie for a discussion on various decision-making tools and how to apply them. This webinar is for planners and decision-makers in local and central government, businesses, and infrastructure management.

Anita Wreford, Lincoln University, is an economist and leader of our Impacts & Adaptation programme. She’s experienced across many areas of climate change, including economic evaluations of adaptation and applying robust methods to deal with climate uncertainty; identifying and evaluating the effectiveness of adaptation options across sectors; and adaptation decision-making among various stakeholders. Anita is an author of the research report Decision-making in our Uncertain World: Which, When and How.

Tom Logan, University of Canterbury, studies the risk to and resilience of urban systems with a focus on transforming how we design our cities in the face of climate change. He uses risk science, systems engineering, modelling and statistics to consider how our cities and towns might adapt. Tom is an author of the research report Decision-making in our Uncertain World: Which, When and How.

Andrew Allison, NIWA, is a Coastal Adaptation Scientist and modeller. He  specialises in the interactions between natural and engineered systems. Andrew develops models and tools to improve decision-making in relation to sea level rise, multiple interacting hazards, climate change and land use change. Andrew is an author, alongside Judy Lawrence, of this guidance document for adaptive decision making for addressing compound climate change impacts for infrastructure

Graeme Guthrie, is an independent economist and was previously Professor of Economics and Finance at Victoria University of Wellington. He has written books on real options analysis and corporate governance. He is the author of this summary document on Simplified real options analysis for climate change adaptation based on research funded by the Deep South Challenge.
