Phyllis Tangitu

Pou Manukura of Māori Health at Lakes DHB

Phyllis Tangitus has vast experience in national governance – spanning education, mental health, Māori Health, and whānau/hapū land Trusts. Her leadership is underpinned by manaaki which has seen Māori knowledge of mental health grow and increased Māori participation in the health system.

She advocates for Māori mental health on a number of mental health advisory groups. She is a community member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal and was recently appointed to the Māori Leadership group for Royal College of Psychiatrists Australia and New Zealand.

Her most important roles are as a partner to Wi, a mama to her beautiful sons and a nanny to her mokopuna.
