Radar measurements of snow thickness over sea ice on unmanned aerial vehicles

We present our development of a lightweight radar that measures snow depth from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), or drone.

We trialled this radar in Antarctica during the 2017/2018 summer at different flight speeds and heights, and in this paper discuss the radar’s accuracy according to these parameters.
