Marae-opoly
Supporting hapū to make 100-year adaptation plans, on a set budget
Marae-opoly is a prototype game designed to help whānau navigate complex climate adaptation challenges in a way that everyone – whether or not you’re an expert in climate change – can understand.
The game forms part of the eight-step decision-making model Te Huringa ki te Rangi – He Rautaki Tāwariwari.
You can play the game with mixed or targeted groups (for example, tamariki, rangatahi, pakeke, kaumātua, community researchers or trust board members). The game supports hapū members to identify and cost your options, and to make trade-offs between one choice and another.
Playing the game with targeted groups means you can compare different views and approaches between whānau groupings, in a fun and non-threatening way.
The game tries to reflect reality and to make reasonable assumptions.
